Hi,
Have asked this question on the EE website, but think it's been overlooked as it's within another post, so....
I have the chance to buy an easy sit, which is the correct seat size, but is 'medium' fit- HC is currently in a wintec with adjustable gullet- and has the extra wide gullet plate in:eek:, so obviously a 'medium' saddle isn't going to be wide enough.
Does anyone know how much the Easy sit can be adjusted by a saddler? Have tried to contact my local EE saddler, but haven't managed to speak to her yet!
Don't want to miss this saddle if it can be adjusted, but also don't want to spend the money if it isn't going to fit!
Any answers or comments gratefully recieved!
Thanks,
Claire

Have a look on better saddles - link from this site - and phone Dave Johnson direct. the trees are very adjustable. However the saddle Co is a dirty word in EE land at the mo - don't ask why!! I have two HM easi sits and am delighted with them, and DJ's level of service! Pardon the typos but have a damaged finger - Non horsey but very sore.
PS do a searc for the saddel co and get their phone no direct

Almost sure that it can be adjusted like all the Saddle Co saddles, as the tree is synthetic. You'd have to send it back to the Saddle Co to have this done though as far as I'm aware, not that that appears to be a problem, their customer service seems to be very good. If so you'd be as well getting one of their fitters to come out and make a template for you.

Thanks for your replies folks! Will find out how much the Saddle co will charge to re-fit, as this may push the saddle out of my price range! In fact, it may even be cheaper to buy one new from the saddle co- they apparantley have a few left!
If the saddle co is a dirty word in EE land, maybe best not to ask an EE fitter to adjust one of their saddles anyway, eh?!
Mossy I hope your finger is soon better, and thanks for the reccomendation on the easy sit- your comments are reassuring!

Is it specifically an EE fitter or a Saddlecheck one you have, not sure what the difference is these days? I think you are well served for both in your part of the world:o
Wonder what's gone off then? Something obviously has...;)

Don't know Yann... I'm intrigued! There seems to be quite a lot 'going off' in the EE world lately- hope it isn't another case of someone trying to rip Heather off!
Have just looked at the Better Saddles and Saddle Co websites- think its Better saddles that still have some HM easy sits- but they are a way away from me and (was it them or Saddle co?) charge 35p per mile to come and fit a saddle...... that would cost me a fortune!
Still, I guess he is worth it;)
Oh, and the saddle fitter I had in mind is someone who I met at one of Heather's demos- she was a working pupil and is VERY local to me- so I guess she is a HM fitter!

I have an Easisit dressage which is great, and other half has one of Saddle Co's own dressage saddles.Dave told me mine was the last HM one made, he's not doing any more.Don't know what's gone on, have some suspicions from something posted on EE, but all I can say is I highly recommend Dave and the Saddle Co.
He can widen the saddles, so I would contact him for a quote. We are so pleased we are each having a GP made aswell.Other half's horse had a lot of muscle wastage and a very sore back from his old saddle, Dave has been wonderful and now Carlow is going better than ever before - 2 trainers have commented on it.
Give him a call, you won't regret it - PM me if you want details.

Strange that, I have just ordered 3 more HM Easi sits, due for delivery next week or so, also some of his own dressage saddles.

Thanks Ginger thing, I had similar advice from someone else via PM so I will be looking closely at the Easi sit I have the chance of and then phoning Dave I guess!:D ;)

Wally, we cross posted I think!
Anyway, my understanding was that there were a few 'new' easi sits still availiable, but that they (Saddle co and better saddles) were discontinuing the line.
Can I ask where you ordered yours from- PM if more appropriate! I am assuming you are ordering them for personal use? As in not for retail?
I'm considering going for a 'sparkly' new one as I have just had a small financial bonus and the difference between the second hand one and the new prices isn't massive:D
Edit: Sorry Wally, if I'd read your post 'properly' I'd have registered the reference to Dave the first time, and worked out where you've ordered from! DOH!

If you get your own saddler to organise a set of templates, if you trust them to do it properly, Dave can make a saddle to order. My saddler did a full set, 3 cross section and one back profile. I got a saddle fitted, which due to various delays did not fit when it arrived. I took it back to Dave, armed with a new set of templates, and have been more than impressed. The more info you can give a saddle maker the better. Two horses can have the same wither template but not back shape so the longitudinal back template is important.
Saddle Co saddles take a while to bed down. They arrive looking very odd but do seat down, follow the instructions to the letter and enjoy.

Hi, I had a Verona made for my mare, Leah. When I bought Blue, my SC fitter took templates and sent the saddle back to Dave. He put a new tree in it ( difference in width was humungous!) and reflocked it. The whole thing took less than a week and cost less than £100 including carriage!! I am just about to call the fitter again as the saddle needs tweaking again (just flocking I think but I'll leave that to the experts!!), he has changed shape so much since I first had him at the start of the summer (fat bloater to streamlined, muscley athlete!!!!:D ). This check is included in the price too). Wonderful caring service in my opinion, and much more affordable than having to buy a new saddle.
