I have a 14.2 / 14.3 connemara / TB and Im 5.2 and weigh 8 st. (Im 31) We are the smallest pair in a yard of giants which usually makes passing motorists go "ahhh, look at the little one".

I know the feeling! I've got 2 highland ponies, one at 14.1hh and the other at 13.3hh. All the others in the yard are over 15.2hh and I sometimes get fed up looking up to people! But having said that, I wouldn't swap them for the world!

Snap!! Cody's 14.2hh, and I'm 5'2!! (but I weigh fair bit more - 12stone)
Its funny when Cam rides Pippin (16hh++ TB), 'cause the trees Cody and I go under smack Cam in the face!!
Yay for short horses!! (and people)

I also know the feeling i have a 14.2 Fell x pony, and she is the smallest at my yard, but who cares we have so much fun together. Atleast we can get of at gates and stuff, the other riders at the yard, can never get on!!

do you all compete against larger horses in the dressage arena? The idea of being the littlest adult competitor is bothering me.

i do a bit of dressage with my 13.3hh forest pony - we have been placed against the poncey warmbloods! her sire used to do quite serious dressage (we are only just starting) and was often placed or winning at a high level.
why does it bother you to be the smallest?
soem judges are idiots and can't see past the hairiness, but mostly they are very fair - especially at the higher levels where it's proper judges as opposed to 'friend who competes a bit roped in at the last minute'.

I don't care how big the others are, remember they are no better than you & sometimes the ponies do better than the big horses

Cody and I don't compete, and I can see how that could start out as intimidating...
But as Es said - just wait till you beat your first WarmBlood!!
