i always arrive at my lesson way too early and end up sitting there wondering if there actually is a lesson or if it was cancelled and i just don't know about it. heh usually someone else shows up early as well but friday no one was there. the barn was all closed up and the place was deserted. so i sat in my car and waited. finally a few minutes after my lesson was to start the instructor came out. apparently none of the other women in my class could make it but she figured she'd just give me a private lesson anyways. the other women take 2 lessons a week and i only take one. we had last friday off because she had to take her daughter trick-or-treating. so i needed the refresher lesson for sure.
so she fixed me up with Doc. he was being a pretty good guy in fact, putting up with all my scratches and cuddles while we waited for the instructor to be ready to go. cept he did give me a good hard nudge once in the chest and left me with some broken blood vessles! love tap i guess. :>
it was about 28 F and the indoor ring is not heated. luckily it's indoors and out of the wind so it wasn't too bad. my thighs were getting quite cold but the rest of me seemed fine. buy boy did doc pick it up, i didn't even have to carry a whip. ask for a march, and march he did. it was nice. we worked on some rising trot, a bit of sitting trot, and some canter. doc's saddle is annoying though. the right side is all bulged out where the buckle on the leathers is and it really pinched into my leg. didn't leave any visible marks but it's still sore. and i wonder a bit about his canter. i can't remember if i've ridden him in canter before but it almost seemed like he was hopping around the ring more than cantering. the instructor didn't say anything so it must have been fine. but i felt a little out of control. i managed a few ok turns down the center diagonal but nothing spectacular. and that was about it. i guess the other women will be back this week so we'll be back to our normal group lesson.
