Had our 3rd lesson together last night - I've been working on the canter strike-off in between but only for 2 sessions because off all the fireworks round our way:rolleyes:.

Anyway, once Murph was warmed up and working nicely, we went for canter in the top corner - wow! For the first time he didn't feel like a huge galumphing flailing thing - it was lovely, so comfortable, steerable, and it lasted halfway around the school - SUCH a good boy!! His left rein canter is still one big leap and then galumph all the way down the middle of the school, but it's coming on.

Sorry if I'm gushing, just had to tell people, I'm SO pleased with how well he's doing! We also did bending his nose in while walking foward when we were warming up - poor darling really didn't have a clue what I was asking him to do, but again, by the end of it he had got the idea and was doing his unbendy best, bless him!

:D :D :D

You're a new owner and allowed to gush and gloat and beam and hoot and ............. all you want! Im loving it!

He sounds like such a good horse! Trying his heart out! What more can you ask for!

C'mon Cathy, you have to supplement these posts with pictures ya know :D

Hmmm.... if I post pictures, you'll see that despite Murph behaving beautifully, I'm still all arms and elbows! (not to mention red-faced and sweaty with all the trotting!)

If I get Mr LC to come down one night (hah!) I'll see what I can do..... How are you and Bon coming along?

:D

Thanks for asking :) Since his horrendous lessons this weekend, I haven't touched him other than hugs here and there. That was way too much for him and I just want to give him time to forget it. Having a go tonight though....

Sounds like you had nice working progress . My horse has nice canters too but everytime that you ride him hes in a different mood. Sometimes he just gives all the power and strikes off and does a nice job and put his heart into and somedays he is just a lazy bum . Keep up the good work ! ;)
