My daughter has exams at the moment and hasn't been able to ride so much as well as been a bit stressed that you wouldn't want her to anyway;)
Yesterday like the good mum I am I decided to lunge her horse for her. I haven't lunged her before and neither has my daughter but I thought as she has a few submission and outline issues it would be good for her.
So I tacked her up, led her out and got started. She gets a very know all face on when she does jump offs and other competitions so I was interested to see her get that expression on her face. Well I might as well have been a post in the middle of the circle, she walked once around, trotted around about six times, cantered one and a half, trotted again, cantered. My voice commands were pretty well ignored for the first few minutes she was just doing a 'I know what to do and I'll do it my way'.
I managed to get a modicum of control by the end of our session- for the up trans anyway but as I untacked her I found myself thinking 'So who was lunging who'.
It's going to be interesting to see what she's like in a week when my daughter has a lesson on lunging using her. I might have to warn the instructor that she is giving the lesson in conjunction with the horse:D
