I'm having lessons on Safi this week before I finally get to bring her back home, and oh boy do her abilities outshine mine

Ive been having a problem getting a good jump into canter and wonder if I'm getting myself mixed up. She's trained to go from the inside leg aid on the girth..a lengthening of the inside leg and nudge inwards and upwards from the calf. My problem is that when lengthening I tend to lean forwrds and bring my leg too far forwards blocking the movement. I am also weaker on my left side due to an acccident
Instructor says lighten my inside seat bone...how do I do that and lengthen my leg at the same time...I'm trying to visualise it but can't understand the mechanics, can anyone help? Or offer any other suggestions as to how to make this easier.

I've watched her popping straight into a lovely uphill canter when asked by my instructor but it's very hit and miss with me - sometimes she offers it when I am just trotting, and can't see that I'm actually giving any aids other than to ask her to soften down. Other times I'm trying my heart out and just getting a rushed trot
I'm terrified I'm going to get her home and spoil all the fantastic work TVS have been doing with her due to my ineptitude

I don't think when you're instructor says "lighten the inside seat bone" that they mean take it off...I think this is going to come out funny.

A few people will be known to lift their hip in trying to lighten the seat bone, but I think "relax" it would be a different term that might make sense. Instead of driving the horse with your whole bum, relax your inside cheek, go with the flow a bit more, and maybe that will help your leg stay in a fixed position.

You'll likely feel a little floppy - I know I used to before I got the hang of it. I'm sorry if that makes next to no sense, but if I could show you what I'm trying to say, it'd probably make more sense.

Good luck!!
