Today I was playing around with a hula-hoop with Mear, and we came up with the most incredible idea for a show for an expo. Some people told me owning a horse after the first couple of weeks was boring.  so I thought I would prove them wrong with this little fun piece. Its incredible, and cool, and the best part Mear knows all the instructions for the sequence. I just have to turn it from halter commands to off lead.
It starts with Mear galloping in and plonking her feet inside the hula-hoop, then doing a turn on the forehand. She lowers her head and lets me slip the hula hoop over her head and across her body to her hind quarters. (It will fit, its a big hula-hoop) then she does a turn on the haunches and steps out of the hula. (I'm thinking of adding a little piece that Mear invented all by herself with out any help...her fitting ALL FOUR FEET inside the hoop...
Anyway, after that I throw two smaller hula-hoops and she fetches them, brings them back, and flips a series of them over her neck. (has it in her mouth and flips it over her head onto her neck.)
She, believe it or not...knows how to do most of this! We're only on the basics at fetching, she will pick up an object on command and pop it into a bucket. So today we worked on her putting her feet inside the hula-hoop, and boy did we have FUN!
In case you didn't see it in stephy-doo's post abouty Gymy I will briefly repost it:
After being bribed with hay she accidently got one foot inside the hoop the first time, and I picked up the other hoof and set it next to the other one, then praised her hugely and gave her the hay. After that she learned VERY quickly and she follows me to where I get the hay and then trots back, pops both feet in there and goes "OK I did it, wheres my hay!"
She's ok about me wiggly it and lifting it up and down while she's eating, and having her eat the hay while I'm fiddling with the hula-hoop makes it unexpectadly easier to slide it up with out incident. Fun!!
What do you guys think, can we take it to an expo?
