I have a 15'2, rising 6 yr old dark bay TB mare. She is an absolute sweetheart, gentle, friendly, and not a problem in or out until recently. About mid October she was attacked in the field by a dk bay horse. Apparently she had leant over fence to say hello to its companion, and it grabbed hold of her nose/face. She then pulled back and ended up with a 4" curved cut that had to be stapled. She was obviously very sore until the staples came out 2 weeks later. It has healed quite well tho 'm crossing fingers it won't scar too badly. Now she goes mad if my friend's horse goes in his stable next to hers( he is dk bay & not the guilty party) even tho they used to be sharing hay nets and salt licks. When turned out 2 days ago she saw the bay that attacked her and reared kicked and generally changed into a nightmare.
Anyone got any ideas of how to solve this as i don't fancy being on her if we meet a bay out on a hack!!!!
