Yayy it worked! Although it is a bit dark - it was taken yesterday afternoon. It wasn't an ideal day - very gloomy and drizzly.

Holly is 16hh. We took her on knowing she has problems such as sweet-itch and supposed arthritis. She has a history of chronic lamesness which has been assumed to be arthritis, but is totally sound at the moment.
We were hoping that I can get back some confidence after a long break away and also that my husband could learn on her too, but after being well looked after for two weeks we have found she is very strong and has very little brakes! We have now found that her teeth need looking at and I think that this is part of the reason for her running off - running away from the pain in her mouth - poor baby. I still dont know if she will quieten down enough for my husband to ride her but he has fallen in love with her anyway.
I am waiting for her to go lame so I can find out the actual cause of it - nobody who knows her seems to know why she was lame - arthritis was assumed but as far as I can see a vet was never actually consulted. If she goes lame, then it wont be the end of the world for us as we are just happy that we can look after her now and everyone at the yard says she seems so much happier now and although they admit they wouldnt have taken her on with her "problems" they are glad to see her being looked after.
My previously non-horsey husband is adamant that whatever happens she is with us for the rest of her life and I am so pleased to see him bond with a horse so well as he was always very nervous around them. Since we had Holly he never moans about how long we spend at the farm and is never itching to get away - he is loving every second of mucking her out and making her a cosy bed - she seems to have bonded with him too - he is even talking about getting lessions at a riding school so that he will be able to ride her one day (soundness permitting of course). I will post some more pics when I take them :-))

okay - dont want to bore you all with these and theyre not even good pics, but here's the two girls enjoying their supper before we left the yard this evening - sorry about the red/white eye but it was dark and I needed the flash :-)
This is Holly and yes, her head isnt clipped because the darn clipperswent blunt before she got finished - will be complete this weekend hopefully - then I'm afraid you will have to look at more pics :-)

And this is Lady, she looks grumpy - dont think she appreciated having the camerashoved in her stable while she was eating lol. Also, in case anyone is wondering about the patch on her nose - we have now got 3 confirmed cases of ringworm at the farm, so what we first thought was a scratch that she had done in the field, isn't. Spent yesterday afternoon treating 5 horses plus tack, brushes, buckets etc with ringworm treatment.

Jules - well we have decided that we are going to wait until the dentist has ahd a look at her teeth before we put her through having the bit in her mouth again. The dentist is due at the farm in the next few weeks just as soon as the last remnants of the ringworm has gone.
I have ridden her twice - the first time was just a walk round the yard the second time was in the field which was a bit hairy to say the least! She was so excited to be out again and like I said in the above post she has hardly any brakes! So I need to build my confidence a bit more too, with lots of walking etc.
Also, as I mentioned in one of my posts above, my hubby is due to have his very first riding lesson this Thursday! Will let you know how he gets on...
Here is a pic of Holly taken on the weekend now with her finished clip. I didnt manage to get a full body shot because whilst I was busy with Lady, hubby tucked her all up for the night.

Holly and Lady are lovely!
That's great that your husband has become so bonded! I wish I could keep my other half riding. I loved having him around the barn when he was taking lessons and it was so much fun to watch him enjoying himself.

Bobbi, she looks FAB! I am envious to the max. Hope your other half does well with his first lesson - is Holly going to teach him or do you have a nice horse with brakes lined up?
Both my husband and my son actually came with my daughter and I when we went riding on Sunday - I have never seen two blokes so thoroughly unimpressed with anything in all my life! Honestly, men - can't live with them, can't shoot them and bury them under the patio!
