Keeping Warm on Cold Days (not OT)

many of you probably already know of this but I thought I would let all of you who didn't know about a gem of an idea I got from the people on a friend of mines yard.

To keep warm on these cold winetery days when doing all your jobs is really really hard :rolleyes: So many of the people on a yard I go to now wear all in one ski suits, they muck out in them, ride in them do everything in them and stay lovely and warm all day :D.

They are easy to keep clean, waterproof (well probably resistant!) and will also keep any clothing your wearing underneath really clean too - not that you need to wear much!!:D

You can pick up some extremely good value suits from Decathlon sports stores and as the ski season is coming to a close many of these items are on sale in Outdoor Shops.

My tip for keeping warm - chase your not so enthusiastic horse round the school trying to make it free school over jumps. Works a treat :D
On a serious note, my friend has a Requisite (Robinsons own brand) all in one suit and says its a lot warmer than putting layers upon layers of jumpers on

I have a Drysuit for when I jetski in the Winter, it did pass through my head to wear that the other day! Its 100% water proof and has seals round the arms legs and neck so you could sit in the water trough all day withough getting wet (if you wanted too!!) or cold! I thought better off it though and put my Mountain Horse Rainrider suit on instead:D

I've been looking round and if you can fit into kids sizes age 16 you can pick up the suits @ Decathlon for about £25.00 and there about £35.00 for adult ladies suits. Could always just get the trousers.

Another possibility charity shops!!!

Nat17 - I imagine getting in and out of a dry suit is quite tricky :p

We have sea survival sits, which, I must say have been used quite a lot this winter.

I also have some sailing dungarees, which I suppose are like heavy weight ski salopettes (sp) they come right up to your chin, trés, trés elegant! but I am warm and dry!.

By the way margarine is very good for getting in and out of dry suits! That's what the commercial divers used when they forgot the talc once.

Never had a problem getting it on, but getting it off was a bit more difficult, cold wet hands are nearly useless!;)

Now I have a use for the ski trousers I bought a few years ago. I got them in a sale, wore them for a week's skiing and decided it wasn't really for me.
They have been gathering dust ever since. Fortunately they are black so they would hide the dirt and also they are shaped in an ideal way for riding. Might as well get some use out of them and they also might provide a little extra padding to cushion me when I get bucked off:D
