Bud occasionally interferes behind, it doesn't happen very often, but I noticed a couple nicks along is pasterns. I've been using polo wraps behind, but they dont' really cover low enough and I'd like to have something that can stand up to mud a little better.
Would ankle boots be appropriate?

ankle boots, very 80's! :D
you could get a sausage boot, that should do the trick. ciara used to interfere like that occassionally, i found this to be caused by poor foot balance, or at least since i changed my farrier a few years back it hasn't happened since! alternatively, i supose you could use a bell boot, but they're only supposed to be for over reaching for front feet, but then if it does the trick why not.

Oh no, I don't want Bud to be 80's! Then I might have to give him a mullet and a pair of parachute pants to match, and I'd have to wear a single, sparkly glove. We can't have that.
I used to use bell boots when he was interfering at the level of the hooves, but this seems to have been corrected by the farrier. Now, it isn't a regular thing, but every once in a while he turns up with a nick up higher.
What are sausage boots? I've never heard the term.

top pic. it goes round the pastern so the other one bounces off it instead of brushing.
