Yay !! Tomorrow morning (fingers crossed everything goes to plan) I take on my loan pony. I've shared her with her owner for 2 & half years so I know her well already, I just haven't had the responsibility of having her all to myself before.
She's a 14hh registered welsh D, rising 7 and her nick name is Maddy. (you can see pictures of her in member's photo's under Sozzie's pics).
She lives out 24/7 at the moment and I'm lucky that I've found a field only 5 mins away where she can live out all year. In fact there is only one stable there and that's for emergencies.
I'm going to be able to ride her so much more now and hopefully do some jumping.
I'm loaning for a year unless things don't work out. I still want to own my own pony/horse eventually but at least this will give me the confidence to do that in the future.
I'll let you know how we get on.:D

I'm totally gutted. Everything was going to plan today until we went to load Maddy. We spent an hour and a half trying to load her but nothing would work, she was just too stubborn. We got her half-way up the ramp but she would not move an inch further. I guess she jut didn't want to leave the security of her friends.
Eventually decided to call it a day as it was stressing us all too much let alone Maddy, plus the lorry owner had to get back and I was supposed to be meeting the lady who's field I was going to be using and I didn't want to mess her about.
I expect I'll feel low about it for the rest of the week now but maybe it wasn't meant to be. Thankfully there was no problem with leaving her with her owner at her present home. I might try and find a new share in my area until I have the money I need to get my own horse. I'll definitely be looking for one which loads ;) .
Somedays you really wonder why you bother at all!

Sozzie, do you really have to give up because she wouldn't load? Can you give yourself a couple of weeks (or as long as it takes) to teach her to load? Perhaps if you could persuade someone to park their trailer at the place she's at for a week or two, you could gradually teach her.

I am sure lots of people could give you advice on how to go about it from this board.
