i dont really know if i have a preference, one comes with training and one doesnt, the groom one is probably a bit better paid, so i dont know really. what do others think?

Good luck!

As to preference, it really depends on how much do you know, and how much more do you want to know.

You'd probably learn quite a lot in both jobs, although the working pupil position is especially for learning you'd pick up a lot of horsey knowledge from being a groom too.

When are the interviews?

i have had both interviews now, they both sound promising as they both said they would phone me. my hubby thinks i should go for the groom job as it is better paid (i think) mon- fri and its £90 a week, paid weekly and it is also on the way to our field with our horses, working hours are 8-12 but the other one is as i said a working pupil position with training for bhs exams and i dont know what hours think its part time too she said and i dont know about the wages either. its hard for me to decide as i am waiting for both women to phone me back. i just thought that because being a groom is what i want to do, and i am very new back into riding that i should take the working pupil position to get some qualifications as most yards want people with qualifications with nvqs or bhs etc, sorry i am rambling, any suggestions or comments would be helpful, thanks.

The grooms job at £6 an hour sounds well paid and perhaps you could pay for some lessons as well. It is also possible to do NVQ through your local college using employment like this as your 'work placement'.

If you are aiming for BHS exams (I am biased here however) there is no substitute for training in an approved yard and especially one that runs exams. However this training is normally either paid for by the student or as part of a full time training contract for which because of legislation you need to be under 22 when you start.

Sorry to rabbit on but training is a minefield and you need to be aware of where you are going!!!!!

i dont know about that one cos i started to work somewhere before as a working pupil, i am 31, and they paid me £94 a week and it was full time and they were going to pay for my exam fees. its hard to decide cos i want to make the right decision.
