Having struggled to help Kerry through her recovery from her jaw surgery, a couple of years after sorting out her completly dead sides, and dead to the world response to humans - AND, for my part having been so terrified for so long as a result!!

Well, today we have both grinned so very much.

She truly is a treasure - Welsh Cob and all!!

I have on several occasions thanked those who, in my estimation have been really instrumental in bringing this all about, but I'm going to do it again because this is important to us.

Thank you - Mike Peace and Susie. Thank you Heather (Heather Moffett of course, for giving me just the tiny bit of courage I needed - what if feels like eons ago) - and then being the person who I watched (the video that is whenever I became completely desperate). Thank you Sue Carnell for teaching Kerry and me so much - and for Kerry's saddle (HM/BS) and bridle - with hard rubber pelham and elastic curb.

And thank you Sam, and Checkendon Equestrian Centre, because without your constant support for our dilemma - well I just don't know how we would have managed really.

We ARE very pleased with ourselves today - yet we know that tomorrow will be different. Today, Kerry excelled (imo)..............to the extent that when Sam rode her for a short while he said:

"That felt really lovely."

As an observer, I have to say they looked too, very good - and at canter - which she has found so hard to do when mounted!!

And she repeated this for me too..............she is so good.

Thank you very much.

In fact I listened to someone the other day who was (I fear) remarking in an ambiguous way about "tall" and "powerfull". I suspect that the "tall" bit was the only thing that mattered to her.

Well, given our experience, I have to say that the "tall" bit leaves me quite cold................the persons who are the horse (horse first) and the owner (last) matter whether or not they exceed 15 hands.

Hi Sandra

Sounds like you've had a wonderful day! :D I do hope that the person you were referring to in your last post wasn't belittling Kerry's size! Having met Kerry "in person" I can't say that I've met a nicer mare, she's lovely. :)

That sounds really lovely, sounds like you are just made for each other - your post sounds a bit like an award winning speech, its so nice to hear when things go right.

Hands Golden Oscar to Hyper for 2004 award for 'love for Kerry'.......:D

Yep Nix, the person was referring to Kerry - Kerry just doesn't match up to her perception of "horse" - 'cause she's just not tall enough etc!!!!!!!

Pah!!!! Some people have no idea do they Sandra!  I've recently had lots of fun schooling and hacking for my YO's daughter ... her 13.2 NF pony has more character in one hoof than some rather aloof TBs I know! :D

Well Nix!!

We (humans) can't help but interpret events I suppose.

Anyway, as you will have read on EE - she's just being so relaxed and competent atm when ridden. The other story is when I first arrive.

It is all personality. She's saying "You haven't been here all week.................naughty Mum". ALSO: "I have a baby to look after you know so just behave yourself (do exactly what I say you should)".

I say, stop nipping me................I am not YOUR baby I am your MUM.............except I don't look like a horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then she says......................."Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I forgot, sorry Mum - well can you just put my tack on then I can do my stuff!!".
