I had a riding lesson today, and refused to carry on with it when a tree branch crashed down into the arena!!!!!!!!!!
Blessher heart - Star flinched and jumped, but was so much calmer than the other horses in the class.
Needless to say - the class finished early!!

I know its been hurrendous!! I nearly got blown away taking them out to the field!!! Vin was eating his breakfast in his door way with the door open and the wind caught his bucket and blew it across the field, still with breakfast in. I was in the tack room and heard him neighing and he was neighing at it looking very concerned as it flew across the field. So I then had to chase the bucket around for ages, every time I got near it blew off again!!

Evil weather..abandoned lessons after the first, too scary with beginners. Did lots of tack and turnout comps instead, think that was more work than teaching riding!!!!

Was just unpleasant when we started today and horrendous by the time we finished, Needless to say Rio took it all in her stride as usual, she's a superstar:)

Urgh...didn't even attempt to ride Molly. It would have been dangerous. Instead opted for mixing cement and building a wall, in a gale. Its grim up north;)

rache it probably would of been very funny to anybody watching! One of those you've been framed moments!! Vin was just concerned for his poor breakfast flying off across the field & but I bet Fly nearly choked on his pony nuts his was laughing so hard!!! Stupid bloody mother can't even catch a bucket!!

Other half went up to see to them this morning and it was so windy and wet he filled heir haynets and left em in! Theres no grass in fields at the mo so thought theyd be ok.

When we went back later to muck out we tied em up together while we sorted their stables and they were so ratty - Holly decided she owned both haynets and gave Lady a telling off for attempting to eat out of her own haynet!

We split them uplike two naughty schoolgirls - the wind blowing round their ears didnt seem to bother them at all so no matter what they are out tomorrow!

We were lucky as the winds and rain where gone by 3 o'clock so i was still able to get out riding.

the wind was powerful though and at times when looking out my bedroom window at the stable, i wondered whether it would blow over being wood!

We had rain ALL day yesterday and it must have been very windy during the night because there were massive branches lying on the roads

Well, I guess that's one good thing about living in a colder place - there is virtually no wind during the winter! :D

I'm fed up with this weather too! Having moved HC to a yard I can actually ride from, and ridden him five days on the trot ( no pun intended!:D ) I decided to give him a day off on thursday, and friday the wind and rain started and I haven't been able to ride since! Grrrrr!

Lost 20 mins of my lesson to the mother of all rain storms this afternoon. We had just finished the lesson as the horizontal sleet started. Lovely weekend...really.

Hacked on Saturday and the guys were remarkably well behaved considering all the flapping and whooshing and general awfulness, but we did go early and so it wasn't as bad as it got later. Afterwards I had to wash & anoint Murph's hooves as there's a crack in one and in the end had to take him out from under the sheltered tying up spot into the main yard as he was so scared by the roof shaking in the wind (the saturday stable girls jumping up & down on the nearby muckheap didn't exactly help either....)

Sunday, all the geldings decided they were stallions in the high winds and Murph came back from morning turnout with several large lumps taken out of his coat... his bum has so many tooth marks in it!! This didn't slow him down any in the group lesson, where he decided he was going to trot as fast as he possibly could regardless of the pace of the horse in front and my half-halts and attempts to do anything but walk proved futile as the minute I asked for trot again he was off racing. Spawny little git still wouldn't give canter, though!

We got back to the yard just as the sleet came down...
