Parelli is one of the "natural horsemen"; and he is selling training programs which can result in you learning natural horsemanship skills.
The upshot is, that upon successful completion of his educational offerings, you would be at a particular, and well-defined competence level.
What are the first exercies you do?
His Level 1 program (the starting point) basically has you teaching your horse the "Seven Games", plus a few other pertinent things, such as how to saddle and mount the horse paying attention to details often not trained, or overlooked with most training.
In addition, Parelli now has a series of follow-on structured programs to take you and your horse further up levels of progress, one program at a time, which again, are well defined. Each program is an audio/visual tool set, with work books that document the "how to" of each action/exercise/game.
You can get on his web sites and order the programs one-by-one, thereby advancing at your own pace, and as far as you wish. In the UK, there is also advice and evaluation services to support your progress within a program.
If you are not interested in the structured programs, He also still publishes his original "Natural Horsemanship" book, first published about 12 years ago. This can be had for under 20 USD in the USA, and contains the same basic material, before he packaged it into level programs.
What would i want to acchive with her?
Parelli advertises that you would achieve first, a "partnership", with your horse (Level 1), and from there on, a refinement and harmony of your relationship. This is accomplished with ground work, and also saddle work, by working and learning his games/exercises.
From personal experience, I can tell you that if you pursue the programs, and complete them to standard, that you will be very good with relating to horses, and handling them. Your riding skills will also be at a high level, from the perspective of having an "independent seat" and control of the horse.
There are several folks on this forum in the UK who are currently working through the Parelli programs, and I'm sure that they'll offer up their opinions also. (Perhaps some are local to yourself, and may be in a position to demonstrate Parelli on their horses.)
Best regards,
Harry

Hayley - lucky for you there is a Parelli in structor based in Shropshire. Her name is Ingela Sainsbury or Salisbury, can't remember of the top of my head. You can find her details on the Parelli website (www.parelli.biz) under Instructors. She regularly holds lessons at her farm or nearby locations, and you can go along to spectate for the day for about £20 (you have to check the costs with her / the Parelli office). If you are interested it may be worth spectating at a Intro to Partnership lesson to get an idea of whats involved and you can ask her all the questions you have.
There are also a couple of new instructors touring the Midlands, i think its Kaffa Murray and a swedish guy, who's name i can't remember (not good at remembering names, in case you've noticed!). I think they have spectator places on their tour, and their details are under Instructors on the website too.
Hope this helps.
