Hello,

I've just spent a good while reading through all posts on this forum that talk about treeless saddles. You all seem really well informed! I am very interested in buying a treeless for my Friesian mare, Sissi, but being a strict vegetarian, I never buy products made of leather. I would love to get a HM Flexion Supreme, but apparently there are no plans to develop a synthetic one at the moment. I've had a look on the Internet at Torsions, Freeforms and Ansürs, but they all seem to exist only in leather. Do any of you know of good synthetic treeless saddles?

Many thanks,

Lorraine

You can get Fitforms (only secondhand now - no longer being made!) in suede and condura...mostly suede.

there's also barefoot saddles. they're a bit cheaper than torsions but from what i have heard, just as good.

Hi again,

Thanks very much for replying, guys, but the only problem is that both Fitform and Barefoot saddles seem to be made of leather. My dilemma is that I need to buy a saddle that's made of synthetic material. I guess a Wintec or Thorowgood synthetic saddle may be a good compromise if I can't find a synthetic treeless one. Shame - I've heard such good things about them ...

Torsions now come in synthetic. (I've been doing a lot of treeless research lately ;)

The Freeform comes in a synthetic suede now, I've seen one in the flesh and it was very nice. The underside is fleece though so it's not strictly a vegan saddle but it's probably the nearest you can get at the moment.

Hi

Heather is considering the possibility of a synthetic version of the Flexion SBS, whether it would be a budget model or purely for those who wish to purchase a completely synthetic saddle for moral reasons, is yet to be seen. Watch this space?

I was looking at treeless saddles too, and I think (not sure though) that the rebecca treeless (i think also called softrides) may be all synthetic, but you'd have to check to be sure:)
