NR Meets Sub-board

This idea came to me when there was a post about how many NR members had we all met.

It seemed like quite a few people would like to meet up, at organised NR meets throughout the country.

Would a sub-board (say in the Collecting Ring area) be a viable option? For us (ie, NR members), it would mean it would be easier to find all the information on meets that are being planned/arranged. All NR members could go to this area and know it was about meets, where sometimes threads in the 'Cafe Area' or 'General' can disguise themselves, albeit unintentionally. So it would hopefully make it easier for meets to be arranged, and for everyone who would like to come to find out the info.

It would also mean the information would stay longer (hopefully), and if people wanted to get involved, they would know where to go.

I hope I've put the case across well for this. I can't see any problems with it, apart from possibly it would be too much for NR's server space.

Any thoughts? Mods?

Sounds fine to me Why don't you pm a mod and ask them? they are busy people.

We'd have a difficulty in saying they were 'New Rider' meetings as this would imply that New Rider had some involvement in them which has implications for liability, responsibility etc which we cannot take.

However, we do think it's a good idea if members want to get together informally and this has been tried in the past with varying success. It will all depend upon someone in a particular area taking on the organising and co-ordinating of events - it can be quite a task.

We'd suggest trying a few events to see what kind of response there is and then we can look at the best way to help it along.

Mike what about a forum where these can be advertised? For instance we have had meetings in the NE where I am and we have always asked if anyone wants to meet up first ( Not sure what happened the last time as there was only Me, EMMYOH and Stella2 everyone had to drop out at the last minute :( ) We could put a sticky up saying that we do not take any responsability for group meets.

There should be a National meet in Sheffield (pretty central) in June. It seems to have fallen to me to organise it, which Im happy to do but cant do alone. If lots of people could come to that I would be very happy, I suppose I need to set things in motion about it now - it's just a very intimidating thing to do (what if people dont turn up when they say they definitely will! etc). It's worth it though, to put names to faces :D
