During the winter, Mysy lost a bit of condition. She was still healthy, just thin helthy. Now, shes been on grass for a week or 2 and she has a layer of fat covering her shoulders, stomach and hips. Shes looking the perfect weight really at the moment, and I want it to stay!

Shes on the same feed in the winter and summer, just smaller amounts of each. I am feeding chaff, speedi beet and cool mix. Is there something worng with that mix of feed to make her loose condition and gain it so quickly. I know she has had the grass as an extra which will, obviously, add weight.

Does that combo sound okay to feed?

Don't forget she may have been growing over the winter. It takes a lot out of a youngster. It's also amazing what a bit of spring grass will do, especially if she's the type who "does well" I think if she's put the weight back on that fast I'd be a little bit careful now - cut out the beet, for example. With some horses it's a lot easier to put a bit of weight back on than it is to get it off, and at three you don't want her young joints strained by having to carry round too much blubber ;) .

Personally, I would cut out the cool mix, as she is not really working enough/at all to warrant feeding mix now that spring grass has arrived. Slowly cut out the beet after the mix if condition is increasing still.
Mine wont entertain a bucket now, they went out too grass on saturday and Min wont eat hers with her bute in so she has to have a jam sandwich now! ;)
