hi martini55, thanks for your reply, this was my second vet i had out today, and the story goes like this from what i can make out, antibiotics at this stage will prolong the infection and may even lead to 'bastard strangles',,, that the right thing to do is get the abscess to come to a head and get it drained, and then she can be given antibiotics,,, i have already disinfected her feed buckets, rugs, headcollars, my box in which she was in the other day, i have really given everything a good clean with high strength disenfectant,, so anyway i dont think antibiotics are the right thing to give her at the moment.........

Yeah, sorry bout that!! I've never had 1st hand experience with the disease so I was just going on what I had read on a website i found on google, which obviously isnt a very good one.

from what i know of it and what i have looked up on the net its one web site said one thing and the next said something else, so i will just go alone with the vet and if anything happens to my baby i will shoot the vet:eek: :eek:
