Hi Guys!

I wonder if anybody could shed some light on more poor mare! I bought her about a month or two ago, when she arrived she had a small hard bump on her head. She had a five stage vetting after the two week trial, when the vet noticed the bump and thought it was a old injury - kick to the head or something similar!

Anyway, enough background, within the last week it has swelled alarmingly, to approximately the size of a small fist. We called the vet out - who was out a complete loss, who has put her on Antiboitics and Anti-inflammatories for five days and see if this calms it down. (No luck yet). It is a hard lump just below her eyes approximately in the middle of her face. Everything else about her is completely normal - eating, drinking, working exctly the same as previously!

Has anyone had any past experiences or any ideas what caused this or what it might be!!?? Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks very much

Karen

sorry i dont know what it could be.

just wanted to wish you luck with you new horse, and hope she gets better soon.

p.s how hard is it, could it be bone growth from an old injury

Tooth abcess, perhaps?

Hiya!

Thanks for the thoughts guys - the bump is still there after five days of antibotics and anti inflamatories.

The vet is coming back today and probably going to take her in for further tests!

Fingers crossed!!!

Thanks

Fingers crossed for you both Karen, hope it all goes well. I was asking friends at the yard if they had any ideas as to what it could be and answers were tooth abcess and injury from another horse out in field, sorry as I know this isn't much help!
Let me know how it goes later.
Goodluck, will be thinking of you both!
