Hey I am Sammy....
I have a horse named April. I got her in December and she is a three year old Thorouhbred. Here are some pictures of her HTTP://Community.webshots.com/user/tbjumper2u
I do Dressage with April and used to do Hunters with my old ponies. If you want to chat, my email adress is [has been removed by sarah] and i also have AIM which is the same adress. I am 14 years old and know alot about horses and would like to hear about your horses or your favorite horses!

Welcome to NR...:)

April is beautiful...how long have you had her?

I do dressage too, but I don't have my own horse yet (maybe one day!) currently I'm riding a bay TB school horse named George, whom i hope to lease over the summer and get to some Dressage shows with...:p

Another TB person :P

I own a 4 year old Thoroughbred mare named Solo, currently in foal. She's 15.2 hands (Short and looks really stocky because she's in foal.) who is currently being reschooled as well because she hasn't been ridden in months.

I got her for Christmas 2003. I adore her and we have come very far since her Racing life In PA.

Dont worry you'll get a horse somday! lol I rode the school horses for a long time too and I finally convinced my parents to let me get her. Just keep begging! lol

How tall is April?

I found my Webshots album of Solo, but the pictures are less than a week old in the one section:

A truly excellent christmas gift...:D

I think I am unfortunetely too old to beg for a horse anymore...LOL. At my age (21) my parents believe should I really want one I will have to pay for it myself (to their credit they helped out by buying a car to get me to and from the stable)...but once I get out of college and start making decent wages you can be sure i'll be buying a horse! :p

Until then I am destined to ride the school horses, which really isn't that bad, they don't hold back my riding in any way, but it helps when i get a lease!

We'd just like to remind people that it's not a good idea to give away your email address in a public forum - it's a good way of getting lots of spam mail amongst other things.

Aw, she's lovely. She must have had a pretty short racing career if you bought her as a 2 year-old. That may be a good thing in terms of her future soundess.

I have a 10 year-old OTTB, who raced for a few years and has some maintenance issues to show for it, but he's a sweet boy and well-worth the maintenance.

Welcome to the board!

Hey Sammy. I own a tb too :D 4 years old, but *officially* five 1st of August this year. We do dressage, show jumping and eventing :) I hope to take Red to a show jumping series which starts in 2 weeks, and I'll do 70/80cm in may, 80/90cm in June and 90/100cm in August. We're currently competing Novice dressage, and we're starting Pre-Training Eventing in August:D

Hello!

Sammy, your horse looks very cute, like galadrial said, she hasn't raced for long, so good news for her legs :D She looks calm and happy :D

I'm Rachel, I'm 16 years old and have been riding for 13 of those years, but had to nag for eight years before I got my own pony... I sold her two years ago as I outgrew her, and I now have a 16hh Irish horse, Ferdie, who I am eventing.. he is brilliant cross country, and is very scopey. I quite like dressage, but dear old Ferdie thinks it's silly going round in circles.. here is a photo of him from a recent test:

He tends to work really well at home, and then go to an event, spot the cross country course and decide that he wants to go there NOW! Lol!

Welcome to New Rider!

Rachel xx

I have to say, 3 years seems a very young age for a horse to be doing dressage and schooling work.

Is it the norm in the States for horses to be started very young?

yea well the short of the long story is this jerk told me that april was four, so i eventually fell in love with her, and we got her vet test and her tatoo said she was 2 turning three. my trainer said, " she just needs to be schooled a bit more and she will be fine". After that trainer wanted to start jumping my two yearold, we moved and started dressage. We are just doing the intro (W,T) and she doesnt go on the bit or anything, but we arent rushing her into that... she is bloody 3! lol
