What does everyone do with there horse poo?

At the moment we have an area of the paddock that it is all put in but Yogi suffers badly with sweet itch and I would like to get rid of the over filled mass of old poo! (:D )

I have heard you can burn it - Does anyone do this?

Thanks guys

Claire

We used to have a muck heap next to the farmer's field, away from the paddock. The farmer would spread it on the field occasionally but when it got too much it was burnt. Ages ago a friend used to come and pick it up once a week.

You can burn it but it's a bit like a peat fire it can go on for days, and days and days smoking the area out.

i've heard of people who just hire a big skip and then simply have the skip with the much within taken away by the skiphire-company.

We have people who come and take it away to use on their gardens.... If you tell the local gardening club, or stick a notice at your gate, you might find someone.

We have a combination of gardeners who come and take it and a farmer who comes and takes it away in exchange for straw!

Our fields are pretty much in the forest (or edge of) so we chuck it out, over the hedges, on the banks.
We have the more fertile hedge rows in all of Berkshire me thinks ;)

Oh gosh, I don't even know where my horse's poo goes... I'm at a very large livery yard (45 horses) so there is a muck heap which we all tip onto, a little way away from the stables, it gets pushed up by tractor, and so rots very quickly, but I don't honestly know where it goes after that

Seems an awful waste of the lovely stuff to burn it, as well as causing pollution - there must be some gardeners or farmers somewhere that could use it?

The farm manager just harrow all the paddocks - all the poop has just disappeared! :D

But otherwise, but OH goes around hitting the piles with a stick to spread it out. He's a one man harrow ;)
