Hi. I bought a weanling paint stud colt last year and after i gelded him he became quite a nice little animal. When i first bought him my intentions were to do western reining with him, but this past winter and spring he has shown amazing potnetial for dressage. Now you may think i am crazy when i say my yearling paint already can do flying lead changes, naturally rounded and supple, and can piaffe, and shows signs of being able to passage. This sounds crazy i know, but its true. and this year i am going to do some long-lining work with him, but didnt know if any of you may have tips or suggestions on what excersizes i should do with him . I am realativley new to dressage and really dont want to mess up such an incredible animal so please help!

I don't think it's that crazy, all the movements in dressage are ones horses already know how to do, we just have to teach them to do it on command...;)

I cant' think of any exercises for you though, other than the regular stuff you do with babies (ie. manners, getting them used to things...and so on). You really can't push too hard to fast if you want a good dressage horse, they need to be really fit and will break down pretty quick if you do too much too soon. I guess the best thing i can suggest is lots of walking on the lead, walk everywhere, take the baby hiking if you feel comfortable, walk halt back on the lead, all that exercise will really help when you start training...:)
