Hi

I had another brilliant lesson today.. This is my 8th lesson since starting back after a 12 year break!

Up until the 6th lesson I was starting to think I would never get back to where I was years ago, my horse felt like it just did not want to move for me or do what she was told! Then all of a sudden last week I turned an enormous corner - my horse did everything that was asked of her, she felt like a completely different horse going from being lazy and not doing what she was told to being very forward & fast! My instructor told me it was me who was getting better and not listening to her telling me what to do, but infact me telling her what to do.

So today I was told to practice the sitting trot which I did and was doing well, then we turned the corner in the school and we cantered! Dont know who was more suprised! But after that my instructor had me canter another half dozen times and I completely loved it - just need to practice my leg on her at turning the corners as she likes to cut them while cantering round!

congratulations !!! Cantering is definitely my favourite pace, you feel like you're flying somehow... anyways. I remember I was VERY nervous way back when I started riding, and I had seen others cantering and saw that they rose out of the saddle a bit.... so I thought you actually posted during canter.... silly me!

Thats great - Dont you just love that feeling when something just 'clicks!' lol well done!

PS as for her drifting just try to keep your outside rein steady. :)

Well done! It's great to start cantering without all the worry of making the transition.... Sounds as if you've got her going forward really well.

YAY. Im really just getting into cnatering now, and getting better at it. I still bounce out of the saddle a litt,e but it's really starting to improve. My trainer siad this might take a while to learn to properly sit in the saddle in a canter. So, congragulations. The biggest promblem I have is steering clear of trees!

Well done you!!! I am really pleased for you :)

I cantered for the first time a few weeks ago and must admit I was a bit nervous but then Eddie is a big horse and has a long stride (thats my excuse anyway!).

Keep up the good work.

P.S I cut the corners too when I cantered - definitely something for me to work on :D
