Ready to trot with western...Can anyone give some tipies?

I've trotted a few but this time I plan to keewp on trotting. I want this ride to be as smooth as can be until I get used to controling my pony while she trots. Please list all the tips you can think of. I am open for any of them. Thank you guys!

Just try to keep your balance and ride with the horse; feel how she/he moves and move along with him/her. Lol

I've never rode western so i dont really know! Is it rising trot or sitting?? (probably sound like silly English rider with no clue - but hey i am!!!) ;)
