I have been unable to ride for the past 6 months as the bottom disc in my back has 'slipped' and I have a trapped nerve down the right leg from hip to ankle.
Although I can walk a short distance, flexion of the pelvis is the action that traps the nerve and is preventing riding at the mo. I am sick to death of this and wondered if there was anyone out there who has had similar but has managed to get back in the saddle.... give me hope someone.

I think I answered you other post, yes there is hope, I couldn't walk at all just after my back went, I was wheelchair bound. It took a year before I was ablle to get on a horse again. My toes used to loose feeling, and I got numb bits down my leg. I can laugh now, but then I couldn't even flush the loo! An osteopath put me right. She nearly pulled me in two but she did the trick! I am now back to being able to spen 8 hours a day in the saddle. I get bad days but they are better spent moving about rather than lieing still.
One thing, are you sure it's a slipped disc? That is what the medical lot told me I had, after 6 months of treatment, no improvement, osteopath said it wasn't a slipped disc 6 weeks later one walking me! Medical proffession nil.....osteopath one!

Seconded wally
The medical profession have tendency to label any back problem as a "slipped Disc" when they do not have another more specific label to put on it. Like anything non specific which makes you feel awful is a "viral infection"
If you can get the advice of a good osteopath or chiropractor. Just as farriers know more about feet than the average vet, the human back specialists know more about backs than the average doctor. Good luck and mauch sympathy.

Sorry to hear of your problem it must be so frustrating for you. I have also suffered a bad back and had treatment from a physio. I don't think mine was as bad as yours but it can be very niggling and annoying. The problem comes from a little joint which keeps locking in my lower r back leading to numb trapped nerve feelings and hip pain. I keep going to the physio, who used to ride so is understanding, and I get better then worse again from time to time. I am hoping the better times will increase as it heals. I am now very fussy about my saddle and have been told to use a mounting block and dismount leg forwards instead of the usual way.I like to do the local ten mile rides so I am really hoping it improves. Let us know your progress and good luck.
