Hi, just wondering if anyone can reccommend any riding stables in the south manchester, stockport or north chesire area?

I have recently decided to take up riding again after a 6 year break. I used to ride and compete when I was younger but gave up when I was 16 as I had outgrown my pony and needed to concentrate on my studies. Would have loved to have had a horse but didn't feel I could set aside enough time.

I went riding with my boyfriend, James, (who has just started lessons) the other week and realised how much I have missed it! james has just got a job in manchester and we are wanting to find a friendly stables where we can both go. We went and looked around quite a few the other weekend, North Cheshire EC, Manchester EC, Ashton Hall and a few others that we had found on the BHS website but none of them really suite our needs - they either didn't do evening lessons, were more geared towards children or didn't do lesson at all!!Shows how much the website is up to date!

Please help, I'm desperate to get back in the saddle!!:p

I have tried three difference schools in the area to date and in my opinion the best by far is Mobberley Riding School. The instructors are excellent, they have a wide range of horses to suit different levels and they are very safety conscious.

They offer lessons in the evening and you can book semi-private of school lessons.

I had to wait for a slot before they could fit me in as the school is so popular and I'm really glad I waited. My riding has come on considerably since starting lessons at Mobberley. The staff are professional and friendly and there is no sign of the school being run by under 16's as has been the case at other schools I've visited.

I found Mobberley to be very unfriendly
