Has anyone done or does in- hand mountain and moorland classes?
If so do you know how the age for the classes work, eg is it what age your horse is on the 1st Jan or what age it will be that year?
My pony was a late birth (October), so was wondering whether or not she would compete as a 2 or 3 year old.
Any info would be appreiciated!

M&Ms are normally done from 1st april (or possibly may, but definitely one of the two).
so your pony would have to go in the 3year old classes i'd imagine. might be worth checking with the individual show secretary though, as you might be able to plead your case. if it were me though, i think i'd leave serious showing until she's an adult - you will be at a disadvantage in youngstock classes having a pony 6 months younger than the rest of them. go and have fun and get ring experience for her, but if you have to go in the older classes she will probably look immature in comparison.

If its May and she was born in October, and she was 2 last October, (and 3next October) wont she be shown as a 3 year old

We do a lot of M&M in hand. The age in which they are in the certain year, is the age that they should be shown as. Eg. A pony born in October in 2002, would be two for all of 2004, as would a pony born in January 2002.
Also, a foal born in December the 31st, would be known as a yearling, even though its a day old! Crazy hey?! This obviously means there is an advantage for the one born earlier in the year. This is why, if the foal will be shown, people tend to breed foals early on in the year.
It may depend on certain show rules but generally that is what happens.
Hope that helps!

Kito was born 26th May and turned 3 on his birthday. I will be entering him in for the 2-3yr olds

Thanx for your replies!
I have been intouch with my society and also had a look at some county shows, which differ in their rules. Society say the age is taken from the 1st Jan in year they were born and some of the shows it is from their date of birth. Guess it just depend and i will have to check everytime.
