fillers at competition?

How do I school my horse so that he will be ready for all the different fillers at shows? He's alright with all the ones we have at home, but he tends to balk at ones he's not seen before.

Would it be possible to hire out a show ring with fillers and practise riding them in a strange ring but without the atmosphere of a show?
