hello!

There is a lovely shire (Iris) at our yard who about 4 weeks ago got 3 bald circles on her body which was suspected to be ringworm. The vet took some cultures, but hasn't got back to Iris' owner with the results yet. The bald patches have now gone and are growing hair again as they have been treated as though they were ringworm, though the vet wasn't too sure that it was.

My question is, Iris is a working horse and we need to have our field harrowed. Iris' dad has very kindly offered to harrow it for us using Iris as he'd like an opportunity to work her properly.

If Iris did have ringworm, would this be a safe thing to do? The last thing i want is for Doodle and Tango to get ringworm, but then again i do want to take advantage of an offer to have the field harrowed!

bye!

I put a post up called Oh No or Oh Dear (brain's gone) about ringworm it was suspected my babies had it but in the end neither did.

I was told anything they touch while they have ringworm can be contageous so brushing against the post and rail in your field then you touch that area with your arm and you've got it - very nasty thing

However, Bramble had exactly what you describe this horse as having and it was just a reaction to fly bites. They were all over her body rather than concentrated in one place (this may help you tell)

It only takes 10 days for the test is there any cahnce just to be safe you could hold off for a week or so?
