On my 6 year light bay mare a round circle has appeared on her face between her mouth and cheekbone area this happened about two weeks ago and now anther one has come up on the bottom of her cheek. They are a perfect round circle slightly smaller than a 1p, her hair has thinned but not fallen out and in the centre she has grey hairs her skin is smooth and not dry. Its not her bridle rubbing has anyone got any ideas.

It may just be hair naturally falling out and as it grows back it just grows back grey - although grey hair is an indication that itis dead hair(which is why grey hair grows back after a freezemark).

It really sounds too early to diagnose anything and it may not even be too serious

I suggest to keep a close eye on it as it may be:
Ringworm - early sings are small circular tufts of hair that falls out to reveal scaley skin which can become infected

I'm finding that with the heat/humidity we're getting, my horses are sweating on their faces. Light rubs against the sweaty areas of their faces is just scraping the hair right off.

You may not be having the kind of disgusting weather that we are here. But it's one potential explanation for hair rubs on faces, if the horse's face is sweaty and the horse is scraping the hair off.

ringworm? rainscald?

or check other gear - halters etc it doesn't sound like a rub but perhaps something's pressing or reacting there - is it where there's a metal fitting?

Sounds like ringworm to me, have you taken any pictures of it that we could look at?

Of course can't be sure without seeing it but it does sound like ringworm to me too.
