Cracking noises in his knees?

This afternoon when i went to meet the vet with my horse to get his teeth floated cause recently he has been losing a lot of weight and the vet said that could be the problem( his teeth) well when i was getting him out i heard a crack and at first i thought it was something i had dropped but then as he kept walking it kept cracking like a pop sound. I was wondering if his losing weight had something to do with it?

Weeeelll...when *my* knee crackles constantly, it has to do with a ligament that's just a little too loose.

But why didn't you ask the vet?

we did and he took an x ray of it and everything was in place and no ligaments were tore and he said he wasnt sure what it could be. My horse could barely walk at that time (cause he was given some sort of sedation not quite sure what) and he couldnt do much at that time.
