yesterday it was raining and wet so i decided to bring the horses into the satbles to eat their tea instead of them having it in the field. when i caught happy i noticed she was shivering a little bit on her flank. then when she was in the stable she started shaking very violently so bad her knees were knocking and she was pooping everywhere. i felt behind her ears and she was really cold but before i had time to put her rug on she went crazy and was charging around the stable so i had to jump over the partion into the next stable! i managed to throw a rug on her from over the wall and just waited there for about 5 minutes and she changed completely! she just stood there normally like nothing had happened and she even eat a piece of apple! i put her turnout rug on her last night because she was so cold. what do you think this was? i am so worried! :(

I would think the shivering would have been from the cold and wet from outdoors as it was registered as being the coldest day in July ever registered since the weather reports started. In which case you did the right thing in bringing her in to rug her up.

As for the charging round this could well be just due to the sudden change in her routine. With being used to eating in the field for a while it could have unsettled her, perhaps the other horses bothered her and she felt protective over her food or was just completely in the blue at what was going on!

However if this happens again then it would be a wise idea to call the vet to have her checked out.

Hope things go ok!
