hello!

We are takign the horses to a show tomorrow. Doodle gets very jittery when another horse gets close behind her so I am wanting to have a red ribbon on her tail. She probably won't actually kick, but my parachute may be tested if i get the ejector seat button accidentally pressed....

What the the way to do this? Is a bit of red insulating tape round the top of her tail ok, or should i buy a ribbon? If I use a ribbon do i tie it round the top of her tail or in the loop at the bottom of her tail plait?

Thanks

ribbon would be better, if only so that it's not tugging on her tail if she swishes, which might maker her even more antsy.
i would plait or band it into the top of the tail as it's most visible there - perhaps tie it round the first 'middle' bit as you start the tail plait.

Sorry, I dont have an answer, but more of a question :o

Are there set ribbon colours that mean different things at shows? Maybe like the hunt field (I think)? For an in-experianced horse, a young horse, a kicker, etc....Are these the same at shows?

I am only asking becuase I have a show with Mysy in a week or so, and this could be suful to know :D

Thank you and sorry for 'hi-jacking' again

As far as I am aware a green ribbon means a novice horse and a red a kicker..but I can't remember any others:rolleyes: Es will be the best person to answer since I have only competed in one show (of that type, I have done plenty of driving trials and PC rallies/shows) in my life :D

hey,
u can use tape on there tail but if u are doing a showing or turnout class u should used a ribbon as it looks neater.
red always means a horse kicks,
and i think green mean an excitible / young horse

I *think* a white ribbon means the horse is a stallion

Righty ho I shall pop out the haberdashers and purchase some ribbon then. I shall follow your adive Es and get it inot the plait at the top, I thought that would be the best place, but the most tricky place to fix it!

Anyway, wish me luck for tomorrow, at our last show last year we were asked to leave teh ring when everyone cantered as Doodle just headed for the judge in the centre and bronked! This is why I'd like the red ribbon (and some body armour for me!).

Not sure why I have to ride Stewart's excitable horse and he gets my well behaved and rosette winning Tango to ride. Hmm, maybe some words are called for!

bye!
