We are currently looking for good stables around my area, I live in Australia, and the good stables that teach correctly are quite expensive. My dad might have to go to hospital so we can't afford it this term, which leaves plenty of time to look around. Fortnightly lessons would be affordable, but I've heard that that is very slow going. I'm thirteen, and have always loved horses, and I know the difference between the right techniques and the wrong. Most stables teach the 'kick and pull' way, and I really dont want to learn that way, and I am finding it hard to find affordable stables that teach the right way. Any ideas on how I could save up some money? or a way I could some how earn lessons?

Well I learnt how to ride by only going fortnightly and that was for a group lesson and I turned out just fine ;)
In England most stables will let you muck out etc. in exchange for riding which means you get to learn about horse care and ride at the same time, always a good thing!

Ask at a riding school if you can help in return for rides. It's a great way of getting experience, free lessons and meeting similiar people your own age with the same intrest.
