I jumped my first jump. Well cross rails, but the pony I was riding full out jumps them.

Anyway, seeing as eveyone makes jumping look so easy. I didn't realize how in control you have to be when you land.

As soon as he landed my pony took off at a gallop with me on his neck until he turned....and I didn't.

Can anyone give me a few tip, or share what their fisrt jumping experince was like?

I'm starting to wonder if I can go more than two consecutive lessons without a fall. Or else I might just come to the conlusion that I'm a horribe rider if I"m falling off so often.

Make sure you're sitting up and looking ahead on the approach. Don't lean too far forwards over the jump, and don't throw your reins away. When you land, sit back lightly and ask for collection.

And most of all - enjoy yourself! :D

My first one was just like yours!! Your not a true rider until you have fallen off ATLEAST 9 times. Stuff like that is going to happen when you jump, its somthing all riders need to know. if you fall off and your still alive with no broken legs, get back up and do the same jump 3 times before you go on to the next one. My first jumping expierence, i wasnt on the best horse...we were at full canter up to a little cross rail (like yours) Zack just stopped and i went flying over the front. I just got right back up!! I have been jumping for 2 years, and i still fall off (i just fell off my horse 3 times in a row the other day). Dont get discouraged by it, its your first one...you'll turn out to be a great jumper if you get right back up when you fall. If your pony takes off galloping again, sit back and pull (dont just pull, sit back!!!!) my horse nikita used to do that, she still does once in a while but we are working on it!!!

Good luck.
