length between the d-rings?????

i am looking for a new saddle as my one is too small. she currently has a 16 inch med/wide which measures 8 inches between the d-rings. i was looking at a 16 inch wide saddle and it still only measures 8 inches between the d-rings! does this mean it is a med/wide, or that my saddle is in fact a wide??? i dont understand. does it make any difference what the distance between the d rings is cos surely all saddles are designed differently?

D-rings are in different positions on different saddles. This seems to be a popular ebay way of trying to describe width. It does give an indication but you can't say it's some number of inches so it must be a wide. Also, different makes are slightly different in size, so not all wides are the same.
