I mentioned to my friend whose daughter's pony has sweet itch about our conversation on Saturday. She was very interested (desperate in fact). So could you give me more information on the treatment?

apparently the vaccine is out now if I remember what Lgd told me. Hope to recieve the article off her shortly. I'll read it and let you know. I beleive Lesley said it was around £100-110. Sounds a lot but how often do they have to have it and if it works may work out cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for the information - I will pass it on. I told her it was expensive & she didn't seem concerned as he has decimated rugs, taken the gate off its hinges & done serious damage to the fencing & field shelter!. She thought that the vaccine might turn out to be cheaper in the long run as well as being better for the pony (if it works).

What exactly is sweet itch? Don't think I've ever heard that term around these parts? ;)
We have an Arab that is very sensitive to bug bites and scratches himself up some terrible sores. Is this "vaccine" something that could help that too?
Just curious as I've never had a horse with "sweet itch" nor have I ever been around anyone whose horse had it, so therefore I'm clueless as to what "sweet itch" is.
Can y'all clue me in?
Thanks Bunches!
