Whoa, incase I have the incorrect use of horse lingo in the subject, I mean 2 point position while backing a horse up.

Q: When you rein back (back up), are you supposed to be in 2 point position or sitting down in the saddle? This isn't for dressage, just pleasure riding, for now.

Thanks,
Maci :)

I have never given this any thought! A sympathetic horse might rein back with you in a 2 point position, but he may be a bit bewildered! you will be in a vunerable position though, he he suddelny backs up you will end up with your nose in his mane! What's wrong with backing up sat upright, then re taking the forwad position?

I thought you'd be in a bad position because you're able to fly off easily, if anything were to happen! And then I thought, it looks more elegant when you sit down during back up, but some books do it in a 2 point position. They say it's easier for the horse, so he can work his hind end.

I Don't Know...
