I rode a new horse at my lesson last night and cantering her was an absolute dream! I had none of the problems I have on my usual horse such as not knowing how much weight to put in the stirrups and keeping most of my weight off the saddle.

This horse's canter was so smooth that I never even thought about that and just pretty much sat there and cantered. It felt great and my instructor complimented my on my seat. So probably the horse I usually ride just has an awkward canter!

We are also practicing jumping a crossrail at the end of each lesson and last night I kept doing something different wrong every time I jumped.

We trot up to the jump and then get in 2 point and grab some mane and jump over. I would correct one thing and then do something else wrong: not steering the horse back to rail the rail after the jump and leaning forward but not getting my seat off the saddle were my main problems. (never had that second one before last night)

Anyway, I am loving the Tuesday night lessons after work - even tho it makes me get to bed so late and I get up sooooo early!

Its most probably to do with your improvement - not jus the horse! Yeah you do get horses who are much more comfy to ride cus i ride different canter type horses all the time at college, but the idea of riding is to move with the movement of the horse! So if its bounce - then you ar ebouncy or yo just end up tensing up and bouncing on the horses back which is none too plesant!
Also i know what you mean - on a comfy horse you get the chance to think through your positioning instead of thinking 'Ow this is not comfy'!

Also, it does take a long time to remember everything at once when jumping - cus im still trying to get it alll right!
