I have seen the discussion on Old Mac boots has anyone any experience with the new Marquis boots. i.e woud they fill with sand or water when riding on a beach. I live on an island and the farrier who comes over every 8 weeks has suggested them for my thoroughbred as sometimes due to bad weather in winter he cant get here.

I'll have a good look at my boots tonight, off hand I can't remember there being any holds for sand, etc to get into but I'll check to make sure.
If you can get hold of Boa Boots where you are there's a "gaiter" to go with them that is for use in muddy/sandy conditions to prevent the surface from going into the boot itself. Might be worth looking at?

Sand isn't a major problem. It does get in the boots but it's a smooth surface inside the boot, so doesn't matter. I don't think the Marquis have holes in the bottom like the Old Macs, so water wouldn't drain out, but again I can't see it causing a problem. Only so much can get in as it'll squish out when the horse moves!
