Hi there how is everyone!!!
I have recently started a part loan in a gorgeous horse at my local stables. It is now the summer holidays (YAHOOOOOOO atlast!) and i am i desperate need of some money (isnt every one!) and my dad has offered me a job from 8am-12am which means that i wil be able to go to the stables in the afternoons but ONLY in the afternoons and possibly all day on Saturdays. But I have been looking forward to being able to go down the stables when i want in the hols but now i wont be able to do that, :(:(:(
But I have also applied for another 2 jobs which would mean i would still be earning some money and be able to go down the stables lots more but there is a risk that i might not get either of those jobs. Or i could go roung every shop and ask them if they have any vacancies and then if they dont then i KNOW that i wont be able to get a job so i might as well take my dads.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY dont know what to do, can someone please give me some advice???

Sounds like you are actually in a good situation, I'm guessing your Dad will wait to find out if you've got one of the other jobs, whereas most employers will not wait. If you do take the job with your Dad, I expect if there was a problem or a show you wanted to go to he would let you off (which a lot of employers also won't so). And you've got the whole afternoon, evening and Saturday at the stables!
Having to work for the money to keep a horse (or share/loan) is good practice, we all have to do it (unless we're very lucky!). Once you have left school/college and are working you won't get nearly so much time so spend at the stables!
Sorry, I'm not much help, but I wish I could swap with you!
Catherine.

Thanx, that is very good advice. I am going to ask my possible employers if there is any chance of me getting a job and depending on their answers i wil go from there. I am tempted to go with my dads job because it would probably get me more money and i would also be able to go down the stables in the afternoon and evenings like u sed but i think i wil just be a little sad to see my summer go :(. But then again i wil have lots more money than working in a shop (i think - it depends on the pay cos i havent found out yet).
thanx again,

Why don't you ask the yard owner if you can work there, this means you would be with your horse all day and you could work around horses too!
your dad seems ot make a good deal, most jobs you would have to work pretty much all day.

Yep most jobs mean an early rise of 7.30am to start around 9am (pending on hiwlong you need to shower, eat and get to work) then you finish at 5pm.
n
At the yard I am at most ride between 6pm and 8pm. It is so much more awkward riding at night during the long dark evenings with a few spot lights over the arena.
Luckily I am one of those who can go anytime of the day,,,well I can go anytime of the day but can only exercise my horse on a morning or afternoon as once he is out in the field I can't catch him. :D
I'd say working for your Dad is you rbest bet as he will be more flexible with you, most jobs aren't so willing to give time off no matter what the excuse.
What will you be doing?

consider yourself lucky :) i'd be over the moon if i could get to see my pony every afternoon and not, like now in the evenings during the week and at the weekend. (btw it takes me an hour to get to the yard ...)

Hi,
It sounds like you have a ton of time to spend with your horse. Starting in september I will have school and then I will be dancing at least 8 hours a week and I am hoping to join swim club which practices every day for at least an hour, and while doing all of that I am going to be riding Caesar and helping my dad train my warmblood!! I will probably ride Caesar during my lunch break[I am homeschooled] or I can just choose to have one of my classes be equine studies and do alot of work with the horses and doing an in depth study on everything that has to do with horses!! I will probably be dead by the end of the school year but at least I will have stuff to do and be able to spend time with my horses!!:D

I think you are lucky in that you'll get to see your horse every afternoon. :) I consider myself fortunate because I start at 6:30am and get out at 4pm, so its about 4:30 pm when I get to the stables. Best of luck with your job situation, whichever one you choose!
