I rode Mysy out on a hack today, again. I put on all my reflective stuff becuase I planned to do some road work and went on up the lane. We came to the common where the show is on the 1st so i decided to let her have a look round there instead.

We went a bit further up, went past the kids play park and tennis courts to the biggest bit of the common. We actually did some schooling today (shock horror ;)). We havent been in a school to 'work' in about a year. We did some derpentines, figures of eight and some small circles (about 10-15m, i didnt have an arena to measure it with lol).

Anyway, she was working lovely on the common (with distractions too (prep. for the show :))). All of a sudden she really powered forwards. I felt the muscles in her back tighten and rise and her neck and head arched. She really worked hard and from her butt too :p . I wish i had a camera becuase I am sure she looked as lovely as she felt :D - It was like she was 'on the bit' but without the bit!!

At least I know what I am long term aiming for now..:)

The "without the bit" is the "bit" I always aim for! Sounds great, really natural and without force.

Thanks Showjumper and Kathy :)

I think she is coming on well, she's improving with ground manners and ridden work every day. Her fitness levels are sky high (too high for a baby ) and she keeps growing  :D (I remember when her and Dolly weren't far off the same hieght!)

The reason I say 'on the bit without the bit' is becuase I ride bitless (in a halter). I see endless number of riders 'twiddling' with the reins to achieve the contact and shape they desire and it annoys me no end, lol. This is why I was so happy that she offered it to me :D:D
