You would need one bomb-proof horse!!

If you're brave (and balanced enough!!) Go for it! :D

Our pony recently tried horseball. She's a showjumper mainly, and can be a bit spooky, but she absolutely loved it.

I would really recommend it. We did a clinic organised by the British Horseball Association tapping into the interest shown in displays put on during the British Open Showjumping show in Sheffield.

There were at least half a dozen pony and rider combinations, and all of them took to it well. Maybe something about being in a herd, racing up and down with other ponies. One showed slight signs of wanting to kick at first, but this was skillfully dealt with by the organisers and this pony settled down quickly along with the others. They said they could quickly tell if a pony was not suited: most in fact were, if introduced properly, and the accident rate is apparently very low.

After just a few hours, we were doing line outs and a mini game. My daughter, who's the main jockey, said wonderpony was really forward-going afterwards. Very, very friendly people - just make sure your jodhpurs are reasonably loose-fitting cos hers split.

I wanted to do horse vaulting since I started liking horses but my mom wouldn't let me. So I tried horseball and now my friends and i play horseball every saturday night (indoors)!

It does take a lot of balance. Let me tell you this if you want to play horseball you must know that it is an extremly rough game! You can't be afraid of falling off. In a normal game of horseball atleast one person is bound to fall off. In my case that person is almost always me because I am the only player with a horse everyone else rides ponies so it is a long reach for me. Although I wouldn't want it any other way! And not to scare you but from playing horseball I have been to the emergincy room 4 times.

Hope I didn't scare you out of playing it! Even though it seems rough it is a really rewarding game. You bond really well with your horse/pony and as well as your teemmates. If I were you I would really consider playing!

actually, you don't need a particularly bomb-proof horse for horseball! my pony is quite skitish - always shying at things like dressage boards, jump fillers etc ect..... but she took to horseball really well. With the proper introduction the horses take amzingly to it - and beacuse for most in a group its a new experience they act like a herd and there are few troubles. I first tryed horseball a couple of months ago and I would recommend it to anyone as it was amazingly good fun! And picking up the ball is much easier than it looks, as you have a strap tieing your stirrups together so you can lean off the horse and back on again easily.
