Started off raining so we were not sure if it would be on. Rang up and found it was so we set off. By the time we got there it had stopped raining.

Well Kito went into the ring all by himself (ok with Gem) so of course he got 1st and a good review from the judge for Mountain and Moorland. Also got 1st for In hand ridden. 3rd for Driving pony, 3rd for young handlers.

Rhi did well too of course.

3rd - In hand ridden

4th - In hand Drivng pony (told she had been marked down as she was not a driving pony. She had gone round with her ears back and her head stretched out. She would make a better ridden pony. He obivously has not seen her idden as she does exactly the same thing :D Was a little annoyed at the remark as he had not seen her drive and she was no different to some of the other driving horses in the class)

Special - Young handlers

3rd in the exercise class. Same judge who did not look at her until we were going round for the third time. Then he seemed to take notice. When he gave me the rossette he said that she was a different horse in the cart. Thanked him and said yes she does love to drive.

1st in Junior whip which meant she was in for the driving horse championship which she came reserved for. Jen was told that she really deserved it as she had driven well and Rhi had done a lovely rein back. (have not got photos of the 1st rossette or reserve rossette but will get the reserve and shield off Jen to photo and put up.

Then it was time for the games. Esther I need some cone lessons. We got a special becuase after setting off they had realised they had not started the clock. Had to go back and do it again and made a right mess of it. Ran over the edges of the cones and knocked a few. Before that we were doing well :(

Bending race became the turning race as you had to go down one end of the arena and turn and come back up. Unfotunately the shetland taht was next to me turned the wrong way and we nearly collided. I could have (and should have) gone round the shetland and just come up her side as afterwards I was taling to the guy who had been doing the games and he had said he saw what happened and I could have done that.

Skipping race Jen did not push Rhi to the extend she should have done and so we got another special.

All in all a good time was had by all.

Oh and Laura if your reading this well done to you, Dan and Shammy for your trophy and rosettes.

Wow, so many Rosettes and trophies! Well done Rhi, Kito, Miriam, Gem and Jen!

Sorry I was too ill to make it, have been depressed all day because of it. Sounds like I definitely missed a great day. Glad it stopped raining for you, it's weird, we've had a gorgeous day here.

Hope you're pleased with everything, and that the horses got well rewarded for their efforts! :D

Not usre about Kito but he is out tonight instead of in the stable. Rhi did not want her tea nor did she want the lovely turnip that Jens mam had bought her  So she is out in the Padock with Gyps and Paddy for a well earned rest :D

I'm sure they'll eat their treats when they're good and ready. Maybe Paddy can take them out for a late meal! ;)

Was Kito a good boy? Did he get overawed at all?

What were the numbers of spectators like?

Sorry, so many questions I know.

Maybe that why the board was in the paddock

Kito was so well behaved for his first ime out. He had a little mini rear as we brough Rhi out of the trailer. At one point in the overall shanpionship he threw in a little mini rear and stop but all in all its our first time with him too.

There were a few. Nothing of course like the big shows

No prob ask away.

Piccies of rossette are now up on page 13 of NR photos

Aww he was a little star then, good Kito! Make sure to give him a pat for me. :)

Give Rhi a hug too if she's not too busy eating or sleeping after her big adventure, she's done a great job today! :)

I bet you're so proud of them. Next time I see them I want Hoofographs. ;)

Sounds like a decent turn out though, especially if the weather was bad.

Did you know many people there? Other drivers and competitors etc?

I'm really pleased especailly as this is Rhi's first show outing for driving. There a few although some of the classes were either abolished as no one in or went quick as only one horse in. There were never any more than five in Rhi's classs so she would have come out with rosettes one way or the other.

Not surprised you were pleased, it's a great achievement. :)

Do you think the turnout was affected by the rain? Did the weather affect the going at all? Forgot to ask before as well, did you get Rhi's cart painted? :)

Miriam

Cart was painted and varnished although it should have been sanded. Weather may have although again the airshow was on too. Weather did not affect the going although there were plenty pot holes to go down. There was one which you just could not avoid

Ah, glad you got the cart sorted. How did you solve Rhi's driving bridle crisis too? Forgot to ask that too. Forgot about the airshow too. Hmm, forgetful me lately.

Sounds like that pothole was a bit of a boneshaker!

I was loaned a leather one a while back and so I just used that. Looks like I'll be saving up for a new harness though. I just done like the one I have poor Rhi is all rubbed on her shoulder

If you tell me what size you are needing and what price range you'd be looking at I'll keep a look out around here for you when I'm out and about.

Fantastic news! You are welcome to a cone lesson anytime Miriam :) Cones are never easy once you are flustered though you do need to be calm so you probably would have been ok without the early starting incident....... My funniest cones incident was one event when I was driving the pair......I dropped a rein  and went round and round in circles in trot until my groom managed to get down and grab them  so disqualified ourselves at the start (only time ever so I was very cross) but then the dressage and cones was such a fiasco for everyone that day that they decided only to score on the marathon and obstacles and we ended up winning:D

I think they both (and all the drivers and handlers etc) did brilliantly, don't worry about the judge criticising Rhi...even he had to change his mind when he saw her in harness:) She is a great little driving pony.

Thanks Esther. Was beginning to think that I would have to glue her ears forward and her head down so its arched like when she is back reining. Oh which she did beautifully and straight.

Incidently I just found out today that the judge said that Jen drove Rhi better than I did :o Well I will have to get her to give me some lessons now :D

Susan (whom you will remember form the group meet and your wedding) said that next year she will have to enter Pol and give me some competition  We are oing to meet up sometime adn go for a drive with the horses and she has offered for Jen to go over and drive Pol. Just phoned Jen and told her and she is thrilled.
