Rearing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celyn has developed a new habit of doing little rears when i ask him to spped up and if im trotting he will do it alot, he also does it mid gallop sometimes not to be naughty just bacause he is so excited and this is understandable but trotting??

i dont really mind because its not dangerous in anyway i just wondered if you guys had anything to suggest he is currently wearing a running martingale.

I would try going back a bit in your training and focus more on ground work, it teaches respect to your horse, i would reccomend a join up and then extensive lunging under saddle ( treats would be nice after long periods of lunging) and if that doesnt help you could try the crop. also you could try clicker training, works real well ive heard, well good luck;)

I would also say go back to the ground work, You say it isnt dangerous in anyway BUT it very well could progress and become so.

to doing abit more schooling, my pony does the same , he's actually stopped doing it as much now but it did develop and began dangernous, it also turned into napping as he would rear then spin around. i had to go back to basics of my schooling and this helped alot, he however does still tend to 'bunny hop' as we canter out, or jump. just be careful !
