Hi
Having always been extremely anti-gadget I have been interested in the good things I have heard about the pessoa - particulary for use in rehab or younger horses who are learning to work correctly.
I wondered if anyone had any experiance of this and tips on using correctly?

hiya!
I have ordered one of the internet, which I should get in the next couple of days! I am very anti gadget too, but I have heard sooo many good things about them, that I decided to give it a go!
Although i have decided to have a lesson to show me exactly how to use them, to avoid any problems with putting it on wrong or having it too tight etc!
Although most of the time I dont think it is the gadgets that are wrong, its when people misuse them or dont seek help if they are not sure!!!

Yes i've ordered one to. I tried to get a lesson to set it up but my instructor has no experiance of them as she is classically trained and doesnt use any gadgets (which is why I choose her! ) but like you i've heard very good things about them and they are recommended by some very well known practitioners such as Dr Gail williams.

I love mine and use it all the time, bit pricey to start with but well worth the money-excellent for building up top line and teaching the horse to 'use' itself without head fixing. Can be a pain to untangle and put on though!;)

How long do you use it for? 10 mins? do you start of in the low position and work through the stages? sorry for all the questions!

I LOVE my Pessoa :p
I brought one about 3 months ago and the different in my horse is amazing - he has always been a little weak behind the saddle - but now he is really starting to build up. My instructor rode him for the first time in about 2 months the other day and he could not believe the difference - he said that he felt about a hand higher !
Mine came with very easy to follow instructions and I had no problems working it out and putting it on !

I love mine too although a friend broke it the other day  Does anyone have any ideas of where I can get the small 8 shaped metal bits where you adjust the back part??
Usually use mine for a max of 20 minutes at a time, 5 minutes on one rein, then 5 minutes on, then repeat. To begin with you may want to do shorter sessions and increase gradually. I usually lunge twice a week on it. Yes, start by attaching it to the under part and then move it up slowly over a period of time until you are at the rings where a riders hand would normally be. I've have used it for ages and still only lunge on the under part or next ring up.
