I got bucked for the first time on Saturday! Managed to stay on ok though - I think it was only a little buck :).
It was also the first time I had ridden when the horse was being a bit difficult as I have mostly ridden school horses and this was my sisters cob, Jerry, instead. We went out for a hack but between the flies, the heat and having a different rider on her back, Jerry wasn't very happy. We did several circles and went for a few trots in completely the wrong direction (including down a private road to a house)!
Then we went for a canter (intentionally) on a large stubble field. It was great, and so fast! The horses in the school never canter that fast! Jerry thought it was so good she threw in a buck half way through the canter.
I was shattered by the time we got back to the stables, but it was great fun :).

Well Done!
I remember my frst buck! I was trying out a horse that was for sale - Nordie ( nickname Naughty Nordie!) All was going well, i asked him for a canter, he started broncing around the school! My instuctor was like "How the!!" We discovered afterwards that my little machine (its connected to my stomach, because i'm diabetic!) had fallen off and was hitting him on the bum! Poor horsie!!
He didn't bronc with me again..

my first buck sounds completly the opposite to all of yours. the horse i was riding was in one of those lazy moods that no-one can seem to get going. and we were doing a slow motion tort round the school (slower then her normal walk) and she suddenly decide to stop dead in her tracks stand still and look into the distance and then gallop off in the opposide direction snorting.
anyone got any ideas why she did that???????

Well, maybe she sensed something that she considered for danger, so she wanted to get away from it - galloping in the opposite direction...
I, too, have ridden such a horse, but the first time she panicked like that, she didn't buck but reared and I fell off...:o

My first bronco, decided it was to hot and didn't fancy trotting any more so put her head down bucked (twisted) then reared looked at me with total discust that i had the cheek to stay on ....then i made a fatal mistake i relaxed and said to my instructor that was lucky ............... with that one last buck for luck i found myself looking at the horses belly then the sand!! with cobby looking down at me as if to say i got ya!! (very smugley i might add!!!)

I used to ride a lil bucking mare who was great fun! would be so stubbern that u had no choice but to tap her with ** whip to get her to move, with that she'd give u a nice big buck in return!!! also remember her broncoing with me as we galloped across fields out on a hacks a countless amount of times! ... surprisingly she never had me off!!
