A short while ago I was asking about harness horse trainers. I found a fantastic guy reasonably close and sent Fred to him. This guy, Chris, works with the owner and his methods are very kind. Within six days my pony was being driven very happily. This is very fast but Fred was just such an absolute star!!!
So I guess you might like a photo or two??? I will try.http://www.horsetrace.com/db/forums/uploads/post-8-1092164775.jpg

By the way, this strange vehicle is a Saddlechariot, designed for safe fun. He is just as happy pulling a more 'normal' vehicle.

What a SUPERB training vehicle who makes them? Just what you need to get them started.

He looks very laid back.

The website content has been changed for the Chariots and doesnot give as much information as it used to. They are naturally balanced so you need not worry about balancing them. They are VERY quick to get off in times of trouble (so, yes, good for training). They are easy for the pony to pull and very stable, you can go over ridges, down pits, through water, across the sand, etc etc.
Chris Cooke on the website is they guy that did Fred for me, I couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Miriam, you gone off the idea of owning one now?? Thanks for putting up the chariot website address.:D

I think Miriam has developed aspirations towards competing - hence the reason one of those would no longer be suitable...:)

lol:D actually, I am toying with that idea and am looking out for something suitable. I bought this chariot for my last pony who sadly died before any real use. In hindsight I wolud not have bought it for Fred, they are difficult to fit to other animals and difficult to sell. Under the circumstances the maker kindly exchanged everything to fit Fred.

Oh well, hindsight is wonderful!!! If anybody hears of anything to fit an 11.1hh pony I'd be grateful to know. Thanks.

Good luck Miriam

Yep off to car boot fair tomorrow with Gem to see what I can sell and get money to go towards new vehicle. I'll also need to win the lottery otherwise we will be 'competing on a shoestring' :D So feel free to donate or sponser;)

Aslo Esther we have found a drive club not far from us except its only doing marathon fun drives and I'm not so sure about shows.
